Boy do I ever feel out of the loop!! I feel like I lost the whole month of January and 1/2 of February to "The Crud". I've never coughed so hard and for so long! Then on February 16th I had surgery and have not been able to see very clearly until today......even now things are still a bit fuzzy. My surgery was to have a brow lift and upper eyelid tuck to get me to the point where I didn't have to walk around holding my eye brows up so that I wouldn't be looking through my eyelashes.........especially the right eye. The pure vanity part of the surgery was to have the bags under my eyes removed. It was a 4 1/2 hour surgery and was a bit more painful than I had thought it would be...........I had not figured that I would take any pain medication since I have a pretty high level of pain tolerance. However, I took all that was prescribed...lol. It wasn't excruciatingly painful, but I did bruise and swell quite a bit. Since I have not been able to see clearly, I really don't know exactly how I looked. I did take a series of digital photos so I can see the progress......I just haven't looked at them yet. I am going to wait until I get completely over the surgery and then look at them all. I think I am healing at a great rate. All of the swelling is gone and most of the bruising. You can still see the incisions(but the stitches have been removed....which smarted) on my upper lids and there are five incisions in my hairline across the front of my head. The blurred vision has been caused from the ointment I have to put on the incisions melting and getting into my eyes. Now that I have progressed this far, I don't have to put as much on so now I can see!! I don't know if I will just look at the photos, say YUK, and delete them or have the courage to do a scrapbook layout of the whole before, during, and after. We'll see. Now that I can read again I will be getting around to see what has transpired in your lives since the first of the year. I feel like I've missed out on alot!

I got tagged by Christine with Six Weird Things About Me........I should have my family do this for me.......they could do it without much trouble(and I'd find out what they really think about me) Here goes:

1) I am a person who cannot stand for pictures to be hanging crookedly on a wall.........any wall. I've gotten strange looks from friends, family, other patients in the Dr's/Dentist's waiting rooms, other people taking the tour of the Designer's Showcase House, people waiting to be seated at a restaurant, but I think the funniest one was the shopper that mistakenly assumed that I worked at Walmart.

2) I have been known to pick lint or hair off the shoulders of anyone within arm's reach.(just ask my hubby.....he hates it when I do it)

3) I have tucked the label back into the shirts of rank strangers in the checkout line at Walmart/Target/Publix. Or an unsuspecting patron of a restaurant(as I passed their chair)

4) I start many a sentence with "As my Mother used to say". To which my granddaughter once replied, "Your Mother must have said a lot of things."

5) I have a very hard time not entering other's conversations if I think I have a good suggestion or solution.

6) I have a dried up yellow orchid corsage in a bookcase in my den(the story behind it was a past xanga entry)

I am tagging Proverbs_31, TNuts, annadotes, RTaylor, FrecklesisLostwithSawyer, and diamond_sky in hope that they will think this is fun and follow these simple rules:

RULES: Each player starts with 6 weird things about themselves.  People who get tagged write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rules clearly. In the end, choose 6 people to be tagged.  Don't forget to leave a comment that says they’ve been tagged and tell them to read your blog.

This has been quite the beginning for the new year! When Kyle came home the 23rd of December, he was incubating what has come to be known as "The Nashville Crud" and promptly "shared" it with the rest of the family. The only one of us who is back to normal is Joshua. The rest of us are still feeling "cruddy"! And most of us got to celebrate our birthdays that way. New Year's Day is my son-in-law, Walter's birthday. The 4th is Kyle's(he spent his 19th birthday in artillery training). The 12th is my birthday and the 13th is my daughter, Dottie's. Last Friday, my birthday, was the last time we could get together with my grandson, Zach, before he went back to UVa. We went out for lunch at the Sportsman's Grille...........Zach, his friend, Lance, my son, Pat, my hubby and me. While we were waiting to be seated, Pat said,"I'm paying for Mom's lunch since it is her birthday." Oops, the cat was out of the bag........my hubby had forgotten what day it was. Now in his defense, he was numbered among the sickly and was really not up to the outing. But he had wanted to spend time with Zach.....unfortunately that time included some time exchanging sizes on a couple of Christmas gifts and that meant some shopping. He's not big on shopping when he feels good.....that day he didn't feel good. He did buy me a new pair of shoes in one of the stores and I got lunch out and family time. At my age, that adds up to a good birthday. I really wasn't mad at his forgetting.........when you feel as bad as we had been feeling, it is had to remember what day of the week it is much less the date............I will have to admit to plans for "milking" it for a while though. That same day we had our monthly "Crop and Craft" at our church and I spent some quality "girl time". The next day one of my friends had a luncheon for three of us who had celebrated birthdays in January.........more quality "girl time". And I topped that day off at Jo Ann's Etc for their big customer appreciation sale and bought some cool scrapbooking items. I coughed all night that night(literally) and couldn't go to church the next day. I do feel better tonight........I hope that means I've turned the corner toward being well. Seventeen days is long enough to be sick! Tomorrow I will hopefully be able to put away the last of the Christmas decorations and move on into this new year!

This has been a Christmas/New Year's season of fun family time. Of course there was the usual Christmas prime rib dinner here at my house. And my son spent Christmas Eve night with us so we had a leisurely gravy and biscuit breakfast cooked by my hubby Christmas morning and watched "It's a Wonderful Life". The Friday after Christmas we had a Frensley family gathering at the home of our nephew, Philip. It was a lot of fun! Any Frensley family gathering always resembles "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"..........only we are not Greek. There was a great deal of laughing, teasing, and food. Then on New Year's Eve, we went to a family gathering of my side of the family at our nephew, Rob's house. It had been several years since we had all been together and it was so good to catch up on what everybody has been doing............especially the younger ones. Then we had to send Kyle back to NC to finish his artillery training on the 1st. He only has about three weeks left though and he will be back home. He told us that his sergeants had been telling them that they would be leaving for Iraq pretty soon. The reserve unit that he is attached to here, volunteered to go to Iraq about the time Kyle started artillery school. He will report to the Reserve headquarters when he gets home and I guess he will know more then. We continue to be very proud of what he is doing. He has been a squad leader and is one of the top three in the artillery training. Of course I will be waiting to see what the President has to say about his plans for Iraq.

I thought I would share some more of my holiday pictures...........................................

These are at my nephew, Phillip's house:

Here I go again.............I've let another month go by with out an update............................................

I figure that most people think that they have a pretty incredible family and I am one of those. We had a great Christmas day with each other. My oldest grandson, Zach, is in from UVa, and my second grandson, Kyle, is in from Marine artillery training. (I'm very blessed that the rest of my family is in the area and I see them often. But that will alter with my oldest granddaughter, Alexandria, going off to college in the fall. My youngest granddaughter, Nicole, will follow the next year. Time goes by so fast!) Zach brought his Korean buddy, Lance, in from UVa for winter break and he was here with us as well. We had already "adopted" him last Christmas. And Zach went to Korea with him this last summer. We also had a woman, that we go to church with, who was going to be alone for Christmas join us for dinner as well. We ate....a lot........and played games. Guys against the gals as usual. We are very competetive and therefore were quite lively..........we split. The guys won the first game and the gals the second.

Here are some of my Christmas pics.........................

Christmas2006c Granddad and Joshua

Christmas2006i Zach, my son Pat, Lance, and Alexandria

Christmas2006a Alexandria

Christmas2006g Kyle lifting his brother, Joshua, one-handed. Look what the Marines have done!

Christmas2006f Alexandria and Kyle........they're very much alike in personality.

Christmas2006e Nicole.........and yes, that is a real gun! It was a gift from her brother, Kyle. I found out only yesterday that she has had a gun on her Christmas list for three years.......followed by "I know that I can't have it" Now she obviously can.

Christmas2006b Joshua, the proud owner of a new bike!

Christmas2006j Our family version of  a "Biker Chick"

I love taking (and sharing) digital pics. I asked my "Santa" for new software to further be able to alter and improve them. I can't wait for it to get here! I got the boxed version because I was advised that if my computer was to crash, I would lose the downloaded version that he had paid for. It's good to have someone in the family that knows a lot more about the computer than I do!

I truly hope that each and every one of you had a blessed Christmas day. I'm looking forward to getting caught up on the latest news on your blogs...............................

EDIT.......I meant to write about what Joshua left out for Santa.............my daughter's family(minus Kyle who hadn't gotten home yet) went out to the Opryland Hotel to see their spectacular decorations. While there, Joshua spied Santa and wanted to go see him. Up to now he has been afraid of him. Josh told him that he wanted a Lightning McQueen racetrack and had his picture made. As they were leaving, Santa asked Josh what he was leaving out for him Christmas Eve. To which he replied "Meatballs!" As far as his parents knew Joshua has never eaten a meatball and didn't know what they were. But Joshua happily left a plate of meatballs out before he went to bed. Guess Santa does need a break from all those cookies................
